Landschaftsprägende Zisterzienserinnen
Ausgehend von den Ergebnissen des Projektes Cisterscapes – Cistercian landscapes connecting Europe, dass Zisterziensermännerklöster Landschaftsgestalter waren, fragt die internationale Tagung „Landschaftsprägende Zisterzienserinnen“ im interdisziplinären Zusammenspiel, ob und inwiefern diese Ergebnisse auch für zisterziensische Frauenklöster gelten können. Dazu sollen die Leistungsfähigkeit und methodischen Instrumentarien der zentralen Begriffe der (Kultur-)Landschaft und der Klosterlandschaft überprüft werden, wie sie im Cisterscapes-Projekt zur Anwendung gekommen sind.
Unter anderem geht die Tagung ergebnisoffen diesen Fragen nach: Kann der materiell-praxisorientierte Landschaftsbegriff sinnvoll auf Zisterzienserinnen übertragen werden und wenn ja, mit welchen Modifizierungen? Welche Möglichkeiten können sich eröffnen (z.B. im Kulturtourismus oder in der breitenwirksamen Vermittlungsarbeit) bzw. welche Beschränkungen können sich ergeben durch die materiell-praxisorientierte Perspektive (z.B. Fortschreibung des zisterziensischen Mythos oder fehlende Differenzierung)? Welche Rolle spielen die Akteur*innen bei der „normativen Aufladung“ von Landschaft? Welche Unterschiede in Ausstattung, Größe und Wirtschaftstätigkeit eines Klosters wirken sich auf die Gestaltung von Kulturlandschaft qualitativ und quantitativ aus? Welche Formen von Zugehörigkeit zu ,dem Zisterziensischen‘ können als relevant für die – auch überregional oder europäische – Landschaftsprägung durch Frauenklöster erkannt werden (z.B. Schriftlichkeit, Spiritualität, Verwandtschaft)?

Cistercian Nuns Shaping Landscape – International symposium
From May 5th to 7th the international symposium ‘Cistercian Nuns Shaping Landscape’ takes place in Lehnin abbey. The symposium is a cooperation of KLOSTERLAND and the project Cisterscapes – Cistercian landscapes connecting Europe.
Based on the conclusion by the project Cisterscapes – Cistercian landscapes connecting Europe that male Cistercian abbeys were landscapers, the international and interdisciplinary symposium ‘Cistercian Nuns Shaping Landscape’ aims to answer if and to what extent this also applies to female Cistercian abbeys. Hereto, the capacity and methodical instruments of key concepts of (cultural) landscapes and monastic landscapes as they were used in the project Cisterscapes will be examined further.
In the course of the symposium, the following questions will be discussed in an open-ended way: can the materially and practically oriented concept of landscape be transferred onto female Cistercians and what modifications may apply? What kind of opportunities (e.g., cultural tourism and public knowledge sharing) or limitations (e.g., perpetuation of the Cistercian myth or lacking differentiation) stem from applying such a concept? Which role do the involved parties play in the ‘normative charge’ of the term landscapes? How do differences in size, facilities, and economic activity of abbeys influence the shaping of cultural landscapes – both quantitatively and qualitatively. Which aspects of ‘belonging to the Cistercian’ are relevant to the (trans-)regional and Europe-wide shaping of landscapes by female Cistercian abbeys (e.g., textuality, spirituality, kinship)?
