Vita of Hannes Langbein

He studied Protestant theology in Heidelberg, Zurich, Princeton and Berlin. Subsequently, he worked as an advisor in the cultural office of the Evangelical Church in Germany and was a doctoral student at the Institut für Bildwissenschaften in Rostock (institute for visual studies). He completed his traineeship as pastor at the St. Nikolai parish in Berlin-Spandau, then worked as pastor on secondment at the St. Matthäus foundation in Berlin. He is an editor of the magazine “kunst und kirche” (art and church), as well as president of the “Artheon” society for contemporary art and church. Since 2018, he is director of the St. Matthäus foundation and additionally the art commissioner of the EKBO (Evangelical Church in Berlin-Brandenburg).
