Director of the museum at the Cistercian monastery of Lehnin im Lehnin Cistercian Abbey
Stefan Beier began to be involved with monasteries and religious orders in 1994 when, as a project partner, he collaborated on designing and implementing a touring exhibition for the Archdiocese of Berlin on the occasion of the 900th anniversary of the founding of the Cistercian Order in 1998. In 2000, he began working at the former Cistercian monastery in Lehnin with the aim of establishing a site-specific museum there. This was successful and since 2005 Stefan Beier has been the director of the museum at the Cistercian monastery in Lehnin.
In addition to his honorary work for the association KLOSTERLAND, he is particularly active in another network, the Brussels-based association “Future for Religious Heritage” (FRH). Since 2019, he has also been a board member and regional representative for Germany there.
As a representative of KLOSTERLAND, Stefan Beier was also involved in the European projects EUROPETOUR and SKIVRE.
Stefan Beier is an expert in networking on a national and international level, the history and continued existence of the Cistercian Order, the conception of exhibitions, the use and re-use of religious buildings.
