Monastery gardens yesterday and today

Workshop and construction of a ‘lawn bench’ according to Albertus Magnus at Bronnbach Abbey

What characterises a monastery garden? What would I like to take with me from such a garden into my everyday life? And what purpose do monastery gardens have in our society today? These and other questions were addressed by 20 experts and interested parties at Bronnbach Abbey near Würzburg on the last weekend in August 2015.

A symposium organised by the KLOSTERLAND association on the topic of Kloster.Land.Wirtschaft (monastic agriculture) in autumn 2015 had revealed that there was great interest among the various participants in an in-depth discussion of individual aspects of this subject area and monastery gardens in particular.
