Reflections from the Monastery: Being-Conscious

Since November 2020, we have been in lively exchange with Father Abraham Fischer. The monk and priest is also a master smith and head of the monastery smithy at the Benedictine monastery Königsmünster in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Father Abraham Fischer OSB has been associated with the KLOSTERLAND association for many years. Back in 2014, he was part of our first exchange between the monastery and the world, he accompanied one of the student projects at the university in Hildesheim as an expert, sat on the expert jury for our CraftBeer and was appointed to the advisory board by the members in 2020. Since then, he has been writing very personal articles about his life as a monk for the association and was available for Martin Erdmann and Lara Buschmann to talk to in the podcast.

Multi-talented Father Abraham Fischer is not only a monk and priest, but also a master blacksmith and head of the monastery forge. Many works of art made of metal such as grave signs, crosses and church furnishings are based on his designs. He was prior and economist of the monastery, head of the caretaker’s office. As a gifted organist, he was significantly involved in the planning of the new abbey organ. He loves orchids, scented geraniums and beautiful crystals and is passionate about Richard Wagner’s operas.

The kick-off for our cooperation was our conversation with him for a first podcast episode. It will be published in early 2021: you can look forward to it!

Father Abraham has written a first article for us: Be-aware
